first conservation and restoration blog post

this is the first post of a blog that will be dedicated to the conservation-restoration, mainly of paintings and polychrome sculptures. my name is david frank bugeja, born 1979 in malta - where i still reside. i am a qualified conservator-restorer of paintings and polychrome sculptures. i do own a website: www.artandconservation.net ...and this blog is the site's extension, a place where i can post and share my sincere thoughts and opinions in an easy and informal way. apart from this conservation-related blog, i also have an art-related blog (because i am also a painter) which you may like to visit.

here i will share with you my thoughts about conservation and restoration that became my passion and obsession.
this will be a journey to understand better the definition of conservation and restoration... and how it evolved today. i will also try to explain the aim of the conservator-restorer. in addition, i will clearly state the advantages and satisfaction of this profession. but i will also point-out the challenges and frustration that this practice presents.

the scope of this blog was born out of the necessity of expressing one's inner thoughts... and will be left in a place where everyone can access and view it. ultimately, the destination of such posts can either get lost in this vast digital ocean of the world wide web... or else will be discovered by others who may react to my ideas and decide to share their thoughts with me. of course, the latter would be nice to achieve.

regards,
david
